Introduction

Surface wire drawing is a surface treatment method that forms lines on the surface of the workpiece by grinding the product, which has a decorative effect.

surface treatment

Surface wire drawing is a surface treatment method that forms lines on the surface of the workpiece by grinding the product, which has a decorative effect. Because the surface drawing treatment can reflect the texture of metal materials, it has been loved by more and more users and more and more widely used.

This article will discuss the surface drawing treatment methods from the application, classification, processing methods, drawing grinding products, and related influencing factors of drawing.

Application

Metal finishes come in many different forms, such as: sandblasted (to create a matte pearly silver finish), polished (to create a mirror finish), embossed (to create various textures), electroplating (covering a layer of other metals), spraying ( over other non-metallic coatings), and brushed (for a satin-like finish).

Compared with other surface treatments, wire drawing treatment can make the metal surface obtain a non-mirror-like metallic luster, which has a very strong decorative effect like silk satin, as if giving new vitality and life to ordinary metals, so wire drawing treatment has more and more advantages.

The more market recognition and wide application, there are elevator door panels, escalator decorative panels in the construction industry, faucets, hinges, handles, lock panels, etc. in the architectural hardware industry; cabinets such as range hoods, stainless steel stoves, sink, etc.

The various 3C digital products that have emerged in recent years have pushed the application of wire drawing to a climax, such as notebook computer panels, keyboard panels, etc., mobile phone panels, LCD frame surfaces, battery covers, and camera protection slides.

Digital camera lens slide plate, etc. There are other various electronic products, such as: Mp3, Mp4, DVD player, projector, and so on. And our common products are locks, furniture, luggage accessories and so on.

Processing methods

The processing method of surface wire drawing should choose different processing methods according to the requirements of wire drawing effect, the size and shape of different workpiece surfaces. There are two ways of wire drawing: manual wire drawing and mechanical wire drawing. Common hand drawing is mostly used in 3M company's industrial scouring pads, such as 8698, 7447C, etc. The following focuses on the method of mechanical drawing.
Common mechanical drawing methods are as follows:

Flat pressing abrasive belt drawing

Flat wire drawing is a very common drawing method. The workpiece is fixed on the mold, and the grinding belt runs at high speed. There is a pneumatically controlled pressure block on the back of the belt that can move up and down. The machined surface is brushed. The equipment usually used is a flat belt sander. Flat-pressed wire drawing is suitable for small-area flat wire drawing surfaces, and is widely used in the wire drawing of digital camera casings, the wire drawing of mobile phone casings, and so on. The thread pattern on the surface of this drawing is usually a straight thread with a continuous thread pattern. Due to the use of abrasive belts, there is a wide range of particle sizes to choose from, so either coarse-grained abrasive belts can be used to process rough and obvious hand-feeling lines, or fine-grained abrasive belts can be used to process finer silk patterns. 3M can provide not only ordinary abrasive belts, but also pyramid series abrasive belts and non-woven nylon abrasive belts that are more suitable for wire drawing. The abrasive belt grinds and draws the surface as a whole, which will generate a lot of heat and cause stress concentration on the drawing side of the workpiece, especially for thin-walled parts, which will cause warping and deformation. So this method is suitable for small area wire drawing. Because it is a push-down operation, it is usually applied to a flat surface, and there should be no protrusions on the surface, such as protruding text marks. However, through the ingenious design of molds such as pressing blocks, it is also possible to draw slightly curved workpieces. The specific method depends on the degree of bending to be discussed in detail.

Non-woven roller brush wire drawing

The workpiece is conveyed by the conveyor belt through the non-woven roller brush, and the roller brush rotates at a high speed to draw the surface of the workpiece. During wire drawing, two methods of roller brush vibration and roller brush non-vibration can be used. At the same time, different processing speeds can be used to produce lines of different lengths. The vibration of the non-woven roller brush can produce very uniform discontinuous silk pattern (short filament); the non-woven roller brush does not vibrate and can produce continuous silk pattern (filament or straight silk). This kind of drawing method is more and more widely used in notebook magnesium/aluminum alloy panels, keyboard boards, LCD frames of mobile phones, battery covers, camera protection boards, camera slide covers and so on.

The advantages of the roller brush drawing method are:

1. It can be suitable for large-area wire drawing, because the wire drawing adopts the method of line contact instead of the surface contact of the flat pressure method, thus avoiding the generation of a large amount of heat. At the same time, the non-woven fabric structure grinding product is used, which has a good cold grinding effect. (The characteristics of the non-woven fabric structure will be introduced in detail in the drawing and grinding products later). In addition, the non-woven roller brush can be very wide (the width of the non-woven roller brush of 3M company can reach 1219mm), and the processed sheet can also be very long.

2. With this drawing method, the drawing surface can have a certain curvature, even small protrusions such as text logos, etc., because the non-woven roller brush has good adherence (the characteristics of the non-woven fabric structure will be described in detail in the drawing and grinding products later). ).

3. It can work continuously, which improves the production efficiency.

4. A roller brush, which can produce two kinds of wire drawing line effects with vibration and non-vibration.
The thread pattern of the non-woven roller brush wire drawing does not have a concave and convex feel, but the visual perception of the thread pattern is obvious.

Wide abrasive belt drawing

This drawing method is the most traditional drawing method, used for flat drawing, especially suitable for sheet metal processing. The abrasive belt rotates at a high speed, and the plates are polished and drawn by the conveyor belt through the abrasive belt. Usually, stainless steel plates, aluminum alloys and other plates are made into semi-finished products of drawing, so as to be further made into products with plates as raw materials, such as stainless steel elevator wire drawing door panels, stainless steel plates, etc. Counter, aluminum alloy case, etc. The lines drawn in this way are usually very thin and short, which can be called snow patterns. This method requires that the adhesiveness of the abrasive belt is better, and the line effect of the plate can be more uniform. 3M's non-woven abrasive belts have better adherence than traditional coated abrasive belts.

Centerless grinding

This is the way of wire drawing by means of centerless grinding. The abrasive products used are non-woven braid wheels or abrasive belts. Suitable for round tubular workpieces such as handle grips, etc. The thread pattern drawn in this way is usually a short thread pattern, and the length of the thread pattern is related to the rotational speed of the workpiece, the rotational speed of the abrasive product and the abrasive product itself.

Polishing machine brushed

Just use the speed of the machine to drive the nylon wheel, and polish the product through manual technology. Suitable for irregular electroplating products.
